Tonelab USB Recording

The USB based recording in the Tonelab ST, is something that helps you achieve true clarity from home and gives almost studio like quality. I bought my VOX a little more than a year ago. When I bought it i was not quite satisfied as I was unable to use it to it's true potential. Learning more about my processor I have started using the USB interface given with it. I use it only for recording though. I have not yet made patches on my computer using it.

The sound that I get is very pleasing and the best part is that you can hear yourself play almost without any lag. It would be better if you could get a firewire interface. The good part about this is that it does not expect you to have even a decent system. I mean even with an atom processor one could record on softwares such as Audition or FL Studio. Even if you have something like Cubase or any of the other Steinberg products I do not think it should cause much of a problem.Even though people do underestimate the power of the atom, I say otherwise after having a first hand experience working on one. Initially even I happened to be hesitant in using the system for recording. Later I noticed if you are not synthesizing many effect then it should not be much of a problem.

One more important thing to be noted is that if the sound card driver on your system is not very good then you can utilise the USB interface to access your VOX which will act as a temporary card and can handle way more loads than your basic driver. Basically, reduces the load of your processor by focusing the sound card issues to your processor. Another advantage of this is that the quality of sound is enhanced and it can be easily understood. So please do take undue advantage of your processor and record without any issues!

The king of all processors: POD HD 500

The POD HD series' highest end modelling processor the HD500 is beyond words to express! It would be the dream processor for most people. It has a humungous number of tones. If you think I'm exaggerating read the full article and think again.

With 512 factory presets beating the other two of the HD series by quite a margin it has almost any tone you need and there is not much of a need to mess around with the sound. There is also space for user presets which are 128 in number.

Another really cool feature is that it has a built-in tuner which mutes the sound while tuning, basically it is built for on-stage performance!

There are 16 HD amp models which simulate almost any pro amp that you can think of! I'll mention a few- Mesa/Boogie® Dual Rectifier®,Marshall® JCM-800 (2204),ENGL® Fireball 100, Vox® AC-30 (Top Boost),etc. POD® HD multi-effect pedals and DT-50™ amplifiers are the first Line 6 products to feature HD amp models. Each an every one of the amp models have immaculate amount of detail in them which makes the HD series the dream processor.

Well there's more to it..much much more!!
There are over a 100 effect models and upto 8 effects can be used simultaneously. It als a touch response, has a 48 second looper, assignable footswitch controls and XLR Input + Microphone Preamp, a touch response.
As all high end processors have this also has a librarian and a software to use using the USB port available on it.

With all these insane features if you have cash on you and need a processor this is the one for you. Even if you have enough for a HD 300 or a HD 400 i would suggest that you save up a little more and then take the HD 500.

Get insane tones!

I have been acquainted with processor for a few years now and it has always intrigued me as to how these complex yet cool sounds are created. The answer was simple just a couple of circuits. They have to be soldered together and voila you have the sound you need. But knowing what you have to solder with what and what you need for what sound is really complex. I am still learning that though.

Recently i just stumbled upon this site which helps you in building your own stomp box!imagine all the money you could save. something you might buy for maybe 100$ can be done at 40$ if you know soldering. The pdf file and all the necessary things are provided by them. The link is buildyourownclone.com.Recently they have come out with a compressor model.it costs nearly 70$.
well the first question that might come to your mind is "is it even worth that much??i mean i have to do all the work myself."...maybe you should rephrase it and ask this to yourself "is it worth spending 150$ and buying a branded product when I can create you own tone?"..just imagine you can just express your thought just by soldering a couple of circuits in the right place.cool isn't it?

Well talking of branded stuff. I myself do buy branded stuff because they are more reliable and you can assure yourself of a good tone. What i do nowadays though is get a couple of circuits and try to make my own sounds and if you like it order the proper kit and let your soldering rod do the rest!
rock on!!

tonelab ex

VOX came out with a new tonelab processor namely the tonelab EX. It has 33 amp modules many cabinets and some amazing pedals. built with one expression pedal for wah or reverb or delay or volume .the vox tonelab ex is one of the best buys for a range within 20000. it is priced @ Rs.15000..
there are two pedal options which is an improvement over the tonelab st. according to me its only competitor would be a floor pod plus.. with an oscillator to give it tube amp effects the tonelab ex is definitely the best buy for an intermediate guitarist..
cheers..:)
