Laser Guitar!!

A laser guitar??What the hell is he talking about?well there is something like that.Actually it is used to control midi instruments.
The advantage of this is that it can foresee or rather guess what note is going to be played next. The laser detects the pitch of the note being played. So by holding the string on the 20th fret or so increases the pitch adn similarly if you are playing on a lesser fret number than you have a lower pitch.
Basically if you are into recording and you like to get any sound you want this will be amazingly helpful to you.

Recording can be dine directly to your DAW with a sequencer software. It can be used to practise with smartphone apps and also used to play games like Guitar Hero and Rockband.

3 Reasons why the Valvetronix+ rocks!

This is the starting model of the valvetronix+ range of amplifiers. I recently have had the opportunity to try out this amp.

1) It has a 12AX7 vaccum tube for achieving the true tube amp tone.

2)Along with this it has 25 built in effects which makes it really cool and a worth while buy. The amp head is basically the same as that of the vox tonelab st processor with 33 amp models, delay, reverb, pedal, treble, bass, mid effects and eq settings respectively.

3)It has a footswitch out port at the back. If you are a blues guitarist then this is the best amp for you within Rs.13000.Even if aren't that much into blues this is still an awesome buy as it has an insane tone. Many of you line 6 fans maybe wondering as to why i am not suggesting the spiderIV. Well that is a great amp too but does
not have as many effects and most of all doesn't have the Tube in it to give the tonal kick.

5 cool guitar accessories

slider

Straight Plug with Circuit Breaker
This is one of the coolest things that I have seen in a long time. If you are fed up of buying new jacks all the time and are looking for a solution then this is the thing for you. It is by planet waves and the jack can be fixed to the cable without being soldered! now how cool is that??

Slider
I am sure you must have seen this somewhere before. It is available in two states. one is the solid body one and the other one is a hollow one which you can put on one of your fingers and use. All the people who have seen the pink floyd pulse concert would have seen david gilmour use it in the song high hopes. If you haven't had a look at it then check it out now. That way you will also get to know what kind of cool sounds it can produce!

Strap Lock
On stage you are always worried that your guitar may fall down if you jump around too much as it may get out of the strap. Well if you have a strap lock you can kiss your worries goodbye and give a kick ass performance.

Single string capo
This is the coolest thing i know of for an acoustic guitarist. You can place the capo on any particular string on any fret and then play your stuff. So you can try out really random and awesome sounding tunings.

Plectrum Holders

This is another kick ass thing to have especially if you have a habit of losing your frets due to sweat accumulation on your hands. You can place them on the mic stand or something. So that whenever you drop one you can always pick another one up. Another alternative which is rather primitive but really effective is putting double sided tape at the bottom end of your guitar and placing a couple of pics there. That way you can drop your worries on dropping your plectrums!:)

How to go about buying your guitar??!

If you are a beginner and you are willing to spend a lot then just see if you like the guitars looks.:P

Just kidding ,though high end guitars are generally good and for beginners will to spend a lot thats the best suggestion as you wont know what kind of music you would like to play a lot.

Well as for those who know what music they want to play there are lots of criterias that you need to go through.
Initially for acoustic guitarists the guitars are generally chosen on the basis of comfort levels and sound quality. However wood specs also do play an important part here. Generally most of the lower end guitars have a basswood body and a rosewood neck and fretboard. Well this is in reference with guitars available in India such as givson, pluto, grason, etc.

As for decent acoustic guitars they would be starting at about 6k. Pluto and wave are really good buys for this range. For a higher budget like around 10k a yamaha or a fender would be nice and a little more higher then gibson's. My choice however would be a fiber guitar which are made by the company named owasian. They are well renowned for their guitars and give amazing sounds. These guitars however begin at a much higher range. My friend recently bought one for 32k.

If you are a metal guitarist then you would want to get as heavy sounds as possible where as for a blues style guitarist it will be a Fender Stratocaster..(at least for me..that is if i want to play blues and really soft stuff or music with a lot of feel in it.

Well firstly never buy basswood body guitars! Unless you have no money at all and need to buy a guitar immediately.Alder wood body guitars on the other hand have a larger tone range and are much heavier sounding.

Mahogany wood body guitars are really amazing for soloing and sometimes rifffing. Nice for blues guitarists or any acoustic guitarists.Maple wood guitars on the other hand are amazing for really heavy stuff and you can play amazing solos on it too. basically the ideal wood you need on your guitar should be either maple or mahogany.

That was all about the body. Now coming to the neck and the fretboard. My favourite fretboard would be ebony followed by maple. The most frequently available fretboards are rosewood. They are also pretty decent. The neck of the guitar is also really essential. A maple neck is ideal followed by a mahogany neck.

Of course there are many other types of wood and there are specs like body wood tops, truss rod specs, etc.  That list would go a little large.

Porcupine Tree

Lightbulb SunLately I have been trying to listen to a lot of bands, basically being open to a lot of ideas hoping to form new and better ideas myself.
Some of the bands that have really appealed to me are mainly aren't very heavy but are definitely beautiful to listen to.
Porcupine tree is one such band which can be categorized as psychadelic rock.
I got addicted to the band when i heard songs like lazarus, lightbulb sun. They are able to form a very good concoction of acoustic and distorted sounds. The album "the lightbulb sun" is mainly acoustic and is one that appealed to me a lot.
The newer releases by them are slightly more on the heavier side none the less they have not lost their charm.
